Namaste, Hola, Bonjour, Salaam, Sussreekall and a HighHowdyDoo to Everyone! Happy CINQUO DE MAYO, and wishing huge love and blessings to everyone as we celebrate Mexican Heritage and Pride. VIVA MEXICO! This week will be ripe with many celebrations and, of course, we will be with you in spirit..wishing we were in Playa del Carmen, again. LOL!
This week will also see another blesed celebration, in Vancouver, called AWARENESS DAY and its for The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s Annual AWARENESS DAY, to be exact! AAAAAAAAANNNND….I am speaking at it!!!!! (nervous sweating commences)
The Awareness Day Lunch this week (May 6th at THE FAIRMONT HOTEL VANCOUVER, BC Ballroom, 12:00pm) will be the First time The AWARENESS DAY event will be held in the spring (a time of new beginnings). This will be the start of a new tradition for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundtion,BC/Yukon Region. Previously, the Awareness Day event was held in October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
I was AT the last AwarenessDay event when it was held in October of 2008. I was juuuuust finnishing radiation, and was in the middle of herceptin infusions, embarking on those daily fragmin injections (for that naughty bloodclot/bambaclat that STILL bugs me with it’s continuing existence. Sheesh!) I think I wore bright blue pantyhose to hide my migrating staph-infection rash (!!!), and my hair was monk-short, just growing back from chemo.
WOW! Seems like suuuuch a long time ago!
And NOW………
I AM SPEAKING AT THIS!!!!!! At a real podium and everything!!! I could neverever have dreamed this. I am so very humbled and honored!!!!!!!!! Can you believe it? Little moi? Speaking at it?
I am veryveryveryvery excited to be involved with this. Just tickled. In love with the whole thing. I wish I could just teach everyone a yoga class but there isnt enough time (LOL) and they have asked me to share a bit of my own story.
I would also love to do an interpretive dance but, alas……time limits, and all.. hahaha!
So, my LovelyBeatifulFriends, I encourage you to explore further and tickets and information are listed above.
Dr. Paula Gordon will also be giving a presentation. She chairs the Foundation’s 2020 Early Detection Working Group, one of five teams of experts tackling breast cancer issues across the areas of prevention, early detection, treatment, research and health care workers in a drive to realize a future without breast cancer by 2020. AMEN!
There will also be an online auction, great raffle prizes (travel, fitness, jewelry, etc.), door prizes, and a 50/50 draw.
I would love to try out my “Don Rickles” routine on everyone….but that may not fit into the alloted timeframe. LOL!
I am truly blessed to be included in this event, and just couldnt wait to tell you about it, and let you know there are still tickets available. (But, they are going fast)
I am nervous but thrilled, and hope to see you there.
I will do what I do……which is Speak my Truth. :)
And, the truth is, I am just happy to be. Here. Now.
And happy that you are reading this. Thank you for that.
I am sending all of you huge hugs and positivity for the week, and of course, Infinite Love from my heart..
Om Hare Krishna. Om Sai Ram. Booyah!
Love,
Biffy

ABUNDANCE

abundance
Namaste and Sussreekall to all of you BeautifulPeople! Highest Blessings to you…you are always in my deliberations and the positive energy goes around the world, from me to you and you to me. Cooool!
Neat how that works. It’s Connection, y’know? It has been a big week and I am very reflective. I have been juggling lots of things at the same time, and have had a nervous energy. LOL! I suppose it is “anxiety”. An interesting feeling, to be sure, I try an find balance.
Yoga practice is very inportant to me, as it is soothing to the body and verrrrry calming to the mind. What is even better, for stress relief, is taking care of my babydog. As we know, he is my child (yesyesyes..he is a dog) and I am navigating his physical deterioration due to age. He still wants to play…..which brings us to the photo offering I am sharing with you: his toy basket.
It looks messy…but…the question is: is the toybasket HALF-EMPTY…..or…HALF-FULL?
I will always marvel at how lucky we are to even HAVE these little “unnecessaries”..most of which are actually Annastasia’s old toys. The pups never chewed them to death, therefore they last in my home for a loooong time.
Like most “things”, we are grateful for them, and take care of them, never wanting to be wasteful.
“Be grateful for what we HAVE…not what we DON’T HAVE.” Amen!
We have our roof(over our heads).
We have our bananas(food).
We have a “safe”existence.
We have access to EVERYTHING from transportation to clean water to healthcare to education(sortof) to independance to basic rights(mostly) to ornamentalization(ie: unnecesaries like “fashion” or “more-than-one-pair-of-shoes”LOL!!!!!..don’t get me started!)
Access.
Access.
Unlimited opportunity.
Fuck.
THINK about it. It is astounding.
Blessed Bastards, are we!!!!!! Lucky mofos! Carry that thought with you, through all your frustrations and anxieties. It totally works for me. :)
As many of you follow me on twitter….http://twitter.com/bifnaked
You may know that last week I had a note (”tweet”?) That basically said I was grateful for “not having headlice, or something.” LOLOLOL!!!!!! Yes, it is sad to say that this type of thinking makes me bust out laughing everytime! Because, as silly as it may sound….it really is THE TRUTH: I am glad I don’t have headlice.
Or an ostomy bag. Or a baby I can’t feed. Or a dying dog. Etc.etc.etc.
You get the deal: it can ALWAYSALWAYSALWAYS be much, much worse (not that there is anything “wrong” with lice or ostomy, etc…..I’m just glad I don’t CURRENTLY experience those things, that’s all.) Cuz I’m already anxious. Ya feel me???
My Darling Friends, I truly hope my longwinded way of sharing with you is not too annoying….I’m just tellin my Truth. :)
You KNOW we are lucky.
I am lucky.
You are lucky.
Yay! May you feel your luck, each day wake-up your luck, and be showered with the Blessings in your life everysingleday!
Even if its as simple as a squeaky dogtoy.
Luxury is everywhere.
We just have to see it.
Big loveydoveyawesomeness to each and everyone of you, I wish you a glorious weekend of Greatness.
Love,Light, and SaiRamHareKrishnaRootieTootToot,

What’s Eating You…

Namaste and Salaam! Bonjour and Hola! Beautiful, Lovely People..I hope you had an Inspirational Earth day, this week!!! It was allllll sunshine and glorious blossoms everywhere, in my neighbourhood! Unbelievable! Om hare Om! So grateful for my safe, safe  life, right now. We live incredible lives, here, in the West. Most of us, do, anyway. Im sorry for everyone who does not and it reminds me to be totally mindful of them each and every day. I want to HELP where I can, whenever I can.
For many, many different organizations.
This is why I am embarking on doing some SPEAKING engagements, on behalf of people I believe in, Organizations I want to use my BIG MOUTH to help raise awareness for.
Next week, I will be working with THE LOOKING GLASS FOUNDATION.
They are dedicated to creating an intensive treatment center for adolescents with eating disorders (ie: diseases like Anorexia Nervosa and Bulemia Nervosa). It will be the first center of its kind in Canada!
Yes, Lovies…DISEASES! Those who suffer are not ABLE to stop and it is not a phase or some kid trying to look like a celebrity. It destroys lives+families and it KILLS people. Truly. I, myself, have had manymany issues with disordered eating (remember??? at one point, I was even a size -1 !!!!!! SERIOUSLY! FOR A WHILE! NOT cool and NOT healthy. Even my BRAIN was crazymaking and I was a mess..depression, no proper seratonin or dopamine levels, etc.etc….and i was WORKING the entire time!!!! GOODGOD! )
But, for Lucky little moi- I am past that…back to being healthy and four sizes bigger! LOL!
I recovered. But I am A LUCKY ONE.
Adolescents are still in growing bodies! It is rough on their brain chemistry, brain tissue, internal essential organs, the works!
I insist that you explore and look at their website: www.lookingglassbc.com and you will be so moved by how much wonderful work these loving, lovely people are doing, and what they are hoping to do. Highest Blessings to them!
I am honored and so happy to tell you that, one week from today (so, thats NEXT FRIDAY, April 30,2010!) I will be their Special Guest at their Annual Fundraiser!
It will be at Rocky Mountaineer Station (101-369 Terminal Avenue, Vancouver)
Dinner is at 7:30 but I dont know what they are making. LOL!
I know all of us are trying to live “better” and “healthier” lives….almost everyone I know is on a “diet” and even put their kids on diets!
What are we saying? What messages are we sending, without even thinking or realizing it? I have my own guilt and hope I neverever sent some kid any idea to be skinnier, or something. :(
All I can do, now, is share my own stories and try and set a good example. And thats all we can each do, everyday. And get behind organizations like this one. *gush*
Have a woderful, happy, wholesome, ad honest weekend…do some pranayama breathing and move your body around. Call your mama (and, Mommyji, if you are reading my blog here, I will be calling you on Sunday! Yay!) and try to take a moment to yourself and just sit, quietly. Really. For one or two minutes. Yeah…just sit there. LOL! It is good to take a time-out JUST FOR YOU!!!!!
Do your best everyday. I will too. In good faith with an open heart, know I am eternally grateful, to and for, every one of you. WORD!
Go be healthy and happy.
With Love and True Devotion,
Om Nama Shivaya..
Love,
Biffy

Flex Yer Head…Flex Yer Heart!

tide
Namaste, Sussreekall, Merhaba,Salam, Buenas Dias y Bonjour! How the Heavens is everybody feeling this week? May you be in your Best Mind and your Best Heart where this finds you. You are so Beautiful, friends. Life is good. Say it to yourself right now. Shout it if you want! Don’t worry what other people think….it is not relevant to your saying that YOUR life is “good”.
Even if you don’t believe it.
And, frankly, you know you’re probably wrong if you think your life is “lousy” or something. Okay…..its all gonna be okay. Remember that.
I had to summon up this type of mind-over-matter routine a couple times, myself, this week.
Once in the dentist’s chair a the oldskool straightedge in me came out and I did every filling WITHOUT FREEZING. Fuckin’ rights I did!!!!!!! LOL!
The challenge of my MIND CONTROL OVER MY SENSES took hold of me….or I completely lost my head- one or the other.
I love a mental challenge. LOVE MENTAL STIMULATION!!!!!!! I managed through pranayama breathing and concentrating on my “breath” and focused mindfulness.
The other challenge I am facng this week is INTERPERSONAL CONFLICT.
We all face this challenge everyday. We have relationships with everyone we are in contact wth every day. Ask yourself how YOU behave in a “conflict”? (I am an AVOIDER and I REPRESS my being upset with absolutelyanything) conflict is not a bad thing. It is simply a challenge to LISTEN TO and UNDERSTAND someone else’s point of view. You don’t have to agree or even like it….you can only CONTROL yourself. How do you behave? Do you take responsibility for your actions/words/thoughts? Do you hold yourself accountable?
You should.
First and formost. Right? Right.
The photograph is one I took last week while walking my beloved Nicklas at Kits Point in Vancouver (verymuch like Narman Point in Mumbai only missing the Oberoi LOL!) The photo is early morning, tide low.
And my MIND and YOUR MIND is an ocean. The tide will flow in and out, like the breath.
What flows in flows out. Its like being flexible in our thoughts. It takes practice and I am practicing flexibility everyday. Om Nama Shivaya.
And I feel prettyy good about it. Its all okay. Life is good. Right?
I hope life is good for everyone of you Beatiful People.
If anything, I hope you are mindfully aware of your own mind+heart. They are your best assets!!!!!
But don’t take-on my “no-freezing-at-the-dentist” shtick!!!! LOL!
I will be doing my breathing and returning to my heart center again and again, everyday, right beside you! *beam*
I have lots of news comin’ down the pipe next week, so let’s check-in here and if you have relaxation/stress elimination techniques leave em for Everybody in the “comments” and we will be sharing and that is so integral to our good, good lives.
Bliss and blessings to Each of You from my heart.
Love,
Biffy

Time is a Commodity

dirtycar
Namaste and Salaam to all of you Beautiful People! Buenas Dias, indeed! Today IS a good day, based on the weather: Vancouver is sunny and the windstorms are napping. Whew! There are branches from the trees everywhere, and we even saw three boats (sailboats) washed up on Kits Beach! Unfortunately, I did not have my trusty, old camera with me at the time.
But…fortunately, we had the time to walk the beaches in the morning. Veryvery grateful for those tolen moments of respite-even though they are “only” to get wee babydog, Nicklas, outside for fresh air. I am a Dogmommy, first and formost, afterall.
Thus the photograph at the top.
Ladies and Gentlemen, THIS is the CONSTANT state of my 2008 car. Constant. It is a travelling dog taxi. Truly.
I have a small, two-door car. I am extremely fortunate to have this car, as it has gotten me back+forth to Bowen Island, transported dogs to vets, and my butt to faraway places like Poco, etc, in any given week.
I walk or ride my bicycle the rest of the time.
Time is what I always seem to crave. I am ever stating, “there aren’t enough hours in the day” and you KNOW how early I get up in the morning and I STILL don’t seem to have time to CLEAN MY CAR!!!!
Or breathe.
Or sit still.
Or write, uninterrupted.
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.
I think this is something I need to work on, like everything else I try to be mindful of.
Time is of the essence.
Time is running out.
Time is on our side.
Everything in its time.
The trouble is that we think we have time.
Time flies.
Time for reflection.
(Insert your “time” saying here)

I hope you get my drift. I think the truth of the matter is, TIME WELL SPENT is our “free” time: the time where we are doing what we do when we are HONORING our needs.
And I neeeed to get outside in the fresh air with my pup when I get chances.
I don’t neeeeed to waste water by getting my carwashed.
Don’t tell Volvo! I don’t want them to think I’m not grateful for my car and how it assists me in life. No, I do not have leather seats (duh!) LOL!
I hope everyone find the time to breathe, relax, and honor yourself this weekend. Maybe I will see you at Ambleside Park in West Van on the weekend.
Its Nick’s favorite dogpark.
Just follow the trail of dirt. You will find my car, and Nick+I, honoring ourelves in the fresh air of the morning.
Om Nama Shivaya.
Sai Ram.
Love and Light and blessings,
Biffy
