Namaste! Salaam! Hola! Howdydoo! Bonjour! And especially Salaam Alaikum as we all honor Ramadan. :)
Om Nama Allah. Om Nama Shivaya. Om Nama Ganesha+Sri Nicklas (see photo). :)

I hope everyone had a beautiful week, enjoying life and feeling lovenergy and positivity! Life is pretty cool, non? We are all so lucky!
I have had a crazy week and have navigated many things keeping my head above the waters. I am grateful. And, Beautiful Ones, I am grateful for you!!!
Where would I be without you?!!
I want you to know that! *hugs*

In fact, I know a lot of you send great messages to me, and a lot of you ask me questions. (If you’re wondering why the comments are moderated, it is because of some dangerouslymentally ill people…and that is as far as I will share any “stalking” situation).
As you know, I like to focus, as much as possible, on “positivity”, with my notes here. Shanti Om. Peace. Y’know?
Anyhoo….as I am grateful to and for you, I would like to answer some “repeat” questions I get asked. Feel free to ask more, and I will answer them. Notoriously long-winded, I have to keep my answering to “ten” questions at a time, or the blog would be EVENFUCKINGLONGER!!!!! Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.
Here is a sampling:

1.”Why do u love bananas so much?
-because they remain one of the only foods that don’t give me a stomachache.
Dangerbelly is my curse. Everything gives me a stomachache and always has, my whole life. But I won’t go into it too much as iit would be jus’ bellyaching about something! LOL!

2.”Why don’t u wear your wedding ring?”
-because I get edema in that arm since surgery/chemo/radiation and my fingers get swollen, plus I am afraid of losing it.
Plus its fancy and I don’t want to lose it or wreck it.

3.”Will u get another dog because Anna died?”
-no. Nicklas is getting old and he is extremely indulged+spoiled and he is very focused upon. He is happy, right now. Unless we had to take one from an abuser. That is a totally different situation. Nick would wholeheartedly support that. Nuff said. RESCUERESCUERESCUE ANIMALS PLEASE! :D

4.”Who is your favorite band?”
-that is a hardhardhard question. I would have to simply say what I listen to most frequently: DJCheb I Sabbah, Bhagavan Das, Amrinder Gill, Krishna Das, Jai Uttal, Jeff Buckley, Three Inches of Blood, Elbow, Niyaz, Otep, Tarkan, Spinnerette, and old Shelter, to name JUST A FEW! LOL!

5.”What is your favorite tv show?”
-i never watched tv as I didn’t even own/want one before Walker moved in. I like Iron Chef and NCIS but that’s all I ever see, really. (And only tivo/recorded as I do not see it till bedtime and I fall asleep within 5min of anything so it takes weeks to even see one episode. I do not watch dvds except on the bus when the guys are watching something)

6.”Who is your favorite designer?”
-like trying to answer “fav band” question, the list is long but I will only mention a couple, here: American Apparel, Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, OlsenHaus, and Mac+Jac. I like to seek out the “vegan” haute couture, ya feel me?

7.”What do you wear to bed?”
-gonch. LOL!

8.”What is your lifelong dream?”
-youre lookin’ at it, Kid. :)

9.”What are u reading?”
-i actually always have about four or five different books on the go! Currently I’m exploring, “Palliative Care Perspectives”, (by James L. Hallenbeck), “Superfoods”(by David Wolfe), and “The Wisdom of the Prophet”(selections from The Hadith, translated by Thomas Cleary) in honor of Ramadan. I am still on my “book fast” of not BUYING anymore books…but there is one out about *gasp* bananas (and fair trade and the banana business) that I’m obviously curious about.LOL!

10.”What is your pet peeve?”
-believe it or not, I get asked this ALLLL the time, being accused of being “too optimistic to be real”, etc.etc. And, I get that. Its not a stupid question. Obviously, ALL of us “hate” the same things: mean people, violent people, injustice, etc.etc. But as far as a real irritation, I would have to relent and say, truthfully, it is racism. Oh, and homophobia. Oh, wait! there are sooo many things. But those are my top two that I will NEVER understand in people on this planet. Okay, and harming kids or animals. Or old people. Awww, shit. Any harming. You get the picture. :)

I hope some of those answer a mere smattering of some frequent questions from you, my Beloved Friends. I will try to answer more.
I hope you will all have a mostbeautiful weekend filled with creativity, fun, and happiness. I send you all energy and high-fives from my heart! You fucking rule.
Go get em! Boooyah!!!! Om Hare Om.
Bliss and blessings and love,
Biffy
Xoxo

Well, what did you expect?” says a bemused Bif Naked, when asked about her new album, “The Promise”. “Of course I made a record! I had planned to release a record in 2009 and it is not in my being to let ANYTHING stop me.

In January 2008, Bif made an announcement that shocked fans and media alike….she was diagnosed with breast cancer and began the fight of her life. Partly because it is in her nature, and partly because it helped keep her focused on the future, Bif began to write and record The Promise – her sixth studio album — while undergoing 13 months of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

“I was determined to make this new record if it was the last thing I did” says Bif, who is now strong, healthy and inspired. “I wrote songs from my bed. When it was time to record, the studio was moved so it was a block up the street from my condo…all I had to do was to force myself to walk up the hill, with my bald head and in my pyjamas — like Quasimodo. The headphones would constantly slip off my shiny head! Some days were good and some days were horrific. Sometimes I couldn’t do a thing, other days I could only sing for an hour, and then crawl home to my bed. We took it day by day.”

“The Promise”, produced and mixed by Jason Darr (and with Sick, Bluejay & You’ll Never Know mixed by Mike Fraser), is the product of turmoil, perseverance, and joy walking hand in hand, which fuelled her to write and record an album that is raw, real, relentless, and 100% Bif Naked. These new songs will give her loyal fans the classic Bif they desire, while attracting a whole new legion of followers. As Bif explains it, “The Promise” is the perfect title for this record. “A promise is made. A promise is kept. It’s one’s word. I made a promise to myself and to my fans. This record is for us.”

Bif Naked fans and those new to the fold will all be incredibly drawn to the passion and sheer force of the CD’s first powerful single, “Sick”. “You make me sick” is a universal expression. “Everyone has something in their lives that makes them angry, sick, or fed-up. Of course chemo made me sick”, says Bif, “but there are a lot of other things going on in this World, like the damage to the environment, hunger and homelessness (especially children), unethical treatment of animals, the refusal of certain governments to provide their citizens with basic Human Rights, and so much more. Most of us feel this way about something, and I hope everyone can relate to the song.”

The first viral single off The Promise, “Fuck You 2” has been released online early as a free download – “Fuck You 2” is a song, according to Bif “about reacting to heartbreak. Sometimes you get to that point when you mourn a relationship where you are angry enough just to tell that other person to simply fuck off.” A video for “Fuck You 2” will be released online in the next few weeks, but for now Bif is urging her fans to join in on the fun, by participating in a contest that gives them a chance to appear in the video. The free download and contest are featured at www.bifnaked.com.

As you would imagine, there are a number of layers to Bif’s new CD, but when asked to think of a common theme, she explains that “this record had a lot of elements referenced, most especially the element of fire, which is weird for me, because it wasn’t intentional. I think that it creates a common theme in a lot of the songs; I think there is a lot rage expressed in this record, but there is also a lot of love.”

Bif’s last cd Superbeautifulmonster was released internationally in 2006; Naked toured after its release for 2 years straight, and her legendary live shows are the result of honing her skills over thousands of tour dates throughout North America, Europe and the United Kingdom. A truly diverse artist, Bif has brought her live show to hundreds of thousands of captivated fans on tours worldwide.

Her previous albums including the self-titled Bif Naked, I Bificus (which was certified Platinum at the beginning of 2009), and Purge, are all noted for their introspective, powerful, and infectious hits that have garnered rave reviews around the world. Her hit single “Spaceman” from I Bificus, made Canadian history with a #1 position on National Charts and #2 position on Billboard’s International Charts making it the highest spun independent song in the history of Canada. Purge was nominated for Rock Album of the Year at the 2001 Juno Awards.

From her remarkable beginnings in an orphanage in India to her battle against breast cancer, Bif Naked has consistently defied the odds, and continues to do so. While recording this record has been an empowering and powerful experience for her, Bif admits that she is most excited to hit the road with these new songs. “I’m going back to tour because it is what I love to do. Performing is my passion. I owe it to myself and to my fans to keep evolving and to keep challenging myself and I just can’t wait to rock.”
