RAWgrrlPower!
Namaste and Highest Holy Blessings-n-Booyah! Sussreekall and Salaam! Merhaba and howdydoo! I am very happy to be writing this note about what I have been up to, lately. (Besides my dufusesque-efforts at “book-writing”, dog-mommying, and my yoga and martial arts practice, etc.etc.)PLUS I played a secret couple-songs-acoustic-suprise with Jason at Vancouver’s The Vogue Theatre, last night! Sooooo fun!!! Not to mention Darr wore a tie+jacket he BOUGHT IN ROME (Italy) not a week before!!!!! LOL!!
What a kid! And he DID call me “Herschel” AND “Screetch” on stage! Even though my chemohair is growing long, now.
(And, FYI, my latest biopsy was “clear”!!! Whoohoooo! Gettin’ closer+closer to graduating!!! LOL!)
So, Lovebugs,
I am in Ottawa, thhis weekend. I will be speaking at the famous SIMPLY RAW FESTIVAL (Thriving on The Raw Vegan Lifestyle) and it takes place at Central Park-19 Clemow Avenue. I am STOKED!!!!!
Finally! To be surrounded by such positivity and good energy, fueled by LIVING foods, and really sharing a healthy sense of community- it is a DREAM for me.
I’m so lucky!
Plus, its HOW I FUCKING EAT!!! LOL! Y’know I do not actually have ONE person (well, not in my proximity, anyway..though I know a couple vegans but none of my “intimates”) in my family/friends/bandmates that eat like I do….no Raw, for sure, but not even one VEGAN or VEGETARIAN! And, as its always been this way, I’ve never really gave it too much thought or felt isolated or misunderstood….and I’ve lived my whole life practicing “non-judgement” of others..so I have never “judged” anyone for not being into MY lifestyle/ethics/shtick. Live+let live.
(And let’s be honest…no one else with the exception of my lifelong friend, GAIL GREENWOOD of BENNY SIZZLER,L7, and BELLY fame, has ever been “Straightedge” either. )
…But I digress…
(And in my own house I have my very own “seperate” cutting boards, knives and utinsels from others’) it is what it is and you know I never sweat the small stuff. :)
Non-judgement. Ever. That’s part of my own path. :)
BUT…..I am truly excited to be around a bunch of other people ON THE SAME WAVELENGTH/PATH as moi!!!! and I can’t wait to LEARN from them! Especially the founder of SIMPLY RAW, raw food chef/healthy lifestyle coach/author NATASHA KYSSA!!!!! She is so respected and admired, all over the globe! She is AMAZING! And-
She knows EVERYTHING!! LOL! I am so honored to be able to meet her and to be included in this year’s line-up for her SIMPLY RAW FOOD FESTIVAL! I feel increddibly humbled and fortunate.
She is an idol, a mentor, and an ICON and I am tremendously thrilled to be able to meet and work with her over the weekend.
Blessed be! Om Nama Shivaya.
In Natasha’s honor, I was inspired to show you one of my personal favorite dinners: the simplesalad. (See above photo) ingredients, here, are: torn spinach leaves, vine(or cherry) tomatos, jicaima, cucumber, celery, purple(red)cabbage, hearts of palm, fresh dill, squeeze of one big lemon, and love (because no matter WHAT you are making to eat, especially for someone else, you should put your happy/loveydovey thoughts/feelings/energy into your food-making: infuse the food with love=PRASAD and it is so good for us!)
If you pre-make a BIIIIG ssalad and keep it in the fridge, it will last a few days and you can pull it out all the time to enjoy.this practice will get you in the habit of eating more leafygreens, ytou know. (Just sayin’)
I am extremely PASSIONATE about RAW VEGAN EATING. I have a massivemassive unwavering belief in it’s benefits for the body, the mind, the soul, and the planet.
I am very in love with my way of eating and have been for over a decade. I always will be this way. Always.
And, for that, I’m grateful.
Come see why and taste the pies!!!!!! LOL! (There is a RawVegan Pie contest in the afternoon, dozens of inspiring speakers, yoga, music, etc.) It will be an amazing experience so please join us there!!!!!!!
And, because Natasha and the Simply Raw Festival are so awesome- the whole festival is FREE!!!! *beam*
With love, bliss, and abundant blessings to you all,
Sai Love. Hare Krishna. Horns. Nicklas. LOVE,
Biffy

Aw how awesome Bif! I don’t think we have anything like that here. A guy I work with eats 70% raw, (he’s huge too, ex rugby player!) and he gets through so many apples a day! I’m always amazed. I’ve learnt a lot from him already, his new fave thing is raw organic coconut oil. All the MCT’s and the ENERGY! hahaha
Anyway really the festival! Learn lots of new recipies!
Much Love

I completely understand the isolation that comes when stepping beyond the “norm.” I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma about five years ago now and chose to heal myself holistically. Transitioning to a raw food diet was one of my first steps. Fortunately there is a HUGE community here in Kansas City with potlucks, speakers coming, Bliss Fest in July, etc. I hope you have a blast at the festival and meet some great raw foodis and holistic healers!

I sure hope I can be healthy again! 2 years ago, I did the rawfood vegan thing. My stomach hated me! I have IBS, but at the time I didn’t know it yet.
Citrus fruits, tomatoes, cabbage, broccoli, onions, some nuts and all seeds have a hard time breaking down in my tummy. A lot of it was passed undigested (eewww) so I decided to just have green smoothies instead. That way, the food is already mushed up and can be absorbed and utilized more efficiently by the body. However, it’s not convenient to drink your food all the time either..
I still experiment with my diet, and I am always changing my two “lists”. There’s a safe list, and a danger list! Haha!
I’m glad u got a clean result on your biopsy, Biffy. Stay green!

Good to hear that Biff is healthy! As for raw food, i enjoy berries as they are readily available, and delicious. Salads are good too, other fruits. Sharing ideas/recipies with people is so vital. But, I am the last to do so when foods involved. Being single many meals consist of broccoli and cheese sauce. Or something else incredible simple. A peanutbutter sandwhich! I suppose thats not raw? Enough. Hope weekend is good.

Hey, I’ve just recently found out about you and your rawness and breast cancer. Have to say I am sorry about the cancer but you are handling it in a truely inspirational way. I too am very into the raw way of life, just finished my chemo/radiation for breast cancer and have that chemo hair you refer to! And I used to run a punk record distro and label…. and yep I’m about the same age as you!!! So you have really struck a chord in my heart, it means a lot to find someone on a similar path…
Enjoy the festival.
