Oy Vey!
Namaste, Salaam, Merhaba, Bonjour, and SHALOM to all you BeautifulWonderfulPeople! HappyHappyHappy Hannukuh!!! May PEACE be the Gift, and may you enjoy lotsa latkes!!!! Om Nama Shivaya!
Yes, Lovies, the season is upon us, and I am (as you are) noticing the madness of consumerism overtaking my beloved city. Traffic is ensnarled (a real forshadowing for Les Olympics!!!!) And people seem a bit more rushed and stressed. Awwwww! Remember this:
BREATHE and be PRESENT as “The Holidays” are celebrations (of “lights” and “birthdays”-ie: Jeeezus’ Birthday) TRY and keep perspective.
It aint no “stress” thang! It is supposed to be about GIVING of yourself (which, of course, should really be an “everyday” thing…but here in the Western world most of us are livin’ in a bubble and trying to manage and juggle and multitask, etc. Work, family.
Let’s be PRESENT about all the PRESENTS!!!!!
I have included a photograph of one of the BEST PRESENTS I have ever been given.
These socks are from my mother. (Thanks, Mommyji!!) THEY REMAIN MY FAVORITE SOCKS EVER!!!!! They bring me great joy when I wear them, and I always feel happy to have purplebananasocks on my feet!!!! I mean- come ON!!! They are PURPLEBANANASOCKS, for fucks sake! How awesome is that?????? How lucky am I????
Most inhabitants on the planet are trying to SIMPLY SURVIVE!
And I am wiggling my toes in the luxury of these socks!!!!! I am SO LUCKY! Everytime I look at them, I am reminded about the sheer goodfortune I experience everysingle day!
Om Nama Shivaya.
They are my GRATITUDE reminder.
I would like to suggest “SOCKS” as a gift if you feel you must give something material to someone. (My charity-donation-suggestion list is coming next week!! Check back!!!) Socks are a loving way of showing someone you care about them. Seriously.
And keep your wits about you, as many of you embark on Hannukuh and Christmas shopping, parties, dinners, etc. Keep some perspective and have a moment to think about the very LUXURY of the fact that you are shopping, partying, and eating.
We are very blessed that THAT is what we are doing!!!! REMEMBER that. Stay REAL!
Live in the moment and savour every minute of your life-even if it is traffic (be thankful we are not “running for our lives”) or lineups (be thankful that we are not trying to escape our countries or lined-up for a ration of rice) or office-party-scandal (be thankful for a job!) Etc.etc.
You get my drift.
Keep it happy. BE happy.
We are luckybastards, everysingle one of us!
And remember to breathe.
And eat a latke or two.
Above all else- stay on your wiggling, happy little toes. Blessings surround us!!! Fuck! That’s pretty cool. Bliss to you all, from my heart…
Love,
Biffy
Xoxo

I have been hard at work knitting socks for most of the folks on my list! Everyone gets something hand crafted every year, which just means I start a lot earlier. :) Socks are so rad, especially hand knit ones! :D

My Mommy always gives me socks for Christmas too! Last year she got me these fuzzy wuzzy vitamin E socks. They are very thick and keep my feet warm on cold winter nights. They are my favorite!!! :D
Also, they are pink!

Just looking at our suggested reading and I’ve read “Survival in Auschwitz.” Damn good story, made me feel all kinds of things. Love the socks! “Banana, banana, banana, terracotta, banana terracotta, terracotta pie.”
