BFF Fo Sho!!!

best-friends

Namaste and MeckaLeckaHigh, MeckaHiney-Ho!!!!!! Most Loveydovey, Highest Blessings to everyone! I trust you are all livin in the fast lane of everysingle moment, and successfully navigating all the craziness of “life”.
Life, as they say, is beautiful. Breathtakingly so. Just fucking amazing!
And, as they also say, life is fucked.
Sometimes.
(Then again, its all perspective, Lovies!!!)
Alas, no matter how deliberately optimistic and patient we are………sometimes, life DOES get one down. Finances or broken heartedness or disappointments or health difficulties or WORSE (abuse, violence, etc.etc.) And it seems insurmountable.
Hopefully, FAMILY is strong, supportive, and loving. Om Nama Mama!!! (Hi, Mommyji!!! Teehee!)
But, often, we may be fortunate enough, and blessed enough, to include DEAR FRIENDS in our “family” heading. Think about it. Think about your truest friends. I am veryveryvery lucky to have good and true friends (besides you Beauties!!!!! And know that I mean it when I say: I send you warm love from my heart! I am ALWAYS grateful for you all……….okay…except three or four very unwell individuals who are ALSO READING THIS YOU SICK FUCKS WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS ILLEGAL!!!)
*ahem* but, I digress….. LOL!
(Loooong story still unfolding. Film at 11, yo!)
But I have a small circle of “intimates”-my longtime (like, decades!) Close friends who know and love me unconditionally, as I them. Like, since highschool! (Trust me- a LOOONG time! LOL!)
Like you guys, I have my friends who have shared everything with me all the way from the beginning: from training bras in grade seven, through university, through babybands+makin music, through boyfriends and heartbreaks, through parents terminal illnesses and marriages beginning and ending and through even the births of many babies (all theirs not mine), we have seen each other through hells and triumphs, and the root of the friendships still remains the same.
It is a righteous thing and so good for the heart+soul. Om Shanti Love! I am so grateful for my friends. :)
And, I am grateful for Nicklas’ friends.
He is pictured, above, with his best friend (they are like brothers!), CHULA! (Whom I refer to as “Chuleeee” or “ChulaPants” or “Mr.Pants”.
Chula has been best friends with Nick since the day they met (when Chula’s mom, my friend Denise, rescued him from Idaho..) And Chula was also friends with Sri Annastasia (MayPeaceBeUponHer) up until the day she died.
ChulaPants and Nicklas are like thugs, rollin around together, barking and generally misbehaving with their stinkbug-rollin’ and hawking their mommies for “dogtreats” (which I give in the form of unsalted rice cracker pieces). They both love babycarrots and Boney M. And James Brown. (Annastasia’s favorite music was Enya).
Ahhhhh, yes. Friendships are the BEST!
I honor and cherish and respect and love and treasure my FRIENDS! I hope all of you gets to have some quality tine with your friends (and/or family) this weekend. Hug them hard and hold them close and TELL them how goshdarn much you appreciate their friendship.
Our relationships are supposed to enrich our lives (aannnd not be codependant or toxic or hurtful, etc.etc. …..ummm..a WHOLE other blog!! Haha!)
And, may YOUR RELATIONSHIPS BE LOVING AND EMPOWERING AND SUPPORTIVE AND GOODFUCKINFUN!
From Nicklas, Chula, and I -have an amazing and beautiful weekend, and go hang out with your friends!!!!! Its good for you! Om Nama Shivaya.
With tons o’ hellfire and lots of love+blessings,
Biffy

Yo! Yo! Yogaaaah!!

Namaste, Bonjour, Salaam, y Hola Lovely People! I trust this day finds you all experiencing a Blessed Existence, in whatever form that brings you. I am sending you BIG lovenenergy as always. :)
We played a fun show in Regina, Saskatchewan over the weekend and enjoyed the rock tremendously! Everyone there was fucking awesome, and provided us with absolute positivity!!!
When I returned home, to my misbehaving boys, (Nicklas and Walker) we decided to see a film (a rare occurrence for me). I am not usually interested in this activity, due to my lack-of-desire for “entertainment” but occasionally, I am curious enough about documentaries, to be motivated to go to a “cinema theatre” (we last saw “Food, Inc.”, and before that-”Religulous”)
We went and saw a film called, “Enlighten Up!” Because it was about yoga. (See above clip)
Now, yoga has been a big part of my life for decades. A bookworm by nature, the devouring of books in my formative years, originally led me to a personal yoga practice. Influencial books like, THE YOGA SUTRA OF PATANJALI, THE HATHA YOGA PRADIPIKA, and THE UNIVERSAL GOSPEL OF YOGA, read in my adolescance, drove me to explore many forms of yoga practice. I’ve tried em’ all. I like em’ all.
It is my deep belief that any and all yoga styles are able to enhance life.
For me, yoga has been more about philosophy and lifestyle, more than excercise (which it seems to be focused upon in many of the cities we travel to)
And, some of my favorite places are home to great yoga centers (Jivamukti and Integral Yoga, are both in NYC…and Golden Bridge in LosAngeles)
Though I was very focused on Ashtanga practice for many years, I find that my truest path has really always been leaning more towards Karma Yoga (it is more fun for me to be a do-gooder than concern myself with any self-desires)
That’s just how I’m built, yo! LOL!
I encourage you all to explore the idea of yoga, if for no other reason than “a fucking good stretch” and I believe you will find rich benefits from your efforts. Move the body in a direction, and the mind will follow. Fake it till you make it. Eyes on the prize.
There is no right or wrong way to embark on a yoga practice (that’s why its called “practice”) and it may even lead to surprising side-effects like a calm mind, increased flexibility, or better digestion. You jes never know.
It may even quiet the chatteringmonkeymind that we all tend to suffer from??? (With the exception of Nicklas, who refuses to do anything other than “downward facing dog” in between barking and nipping-of-heels!!)
The movie, by the way, left me wishing I could edit it differently (for fucks’ sake! Everyone’s a critic, hey? LOL! Even moi!!)
And I DID fall dead asleep in the theatre (what a loser!) But I’m sure that is probably due to my being completely underslept all of the time (my apologies to the director of the film, Kate, whom I applaud for her work!)
I may have to revisit the film to see it’s message again. I thought it was wonderful to see Pattabhi Jois in this movie (who transcended this past May…May Peace Be Upon Him) and of course, Sharon Gannon and David Life (from Jivamukti Yoga) as I am IN LOVE with them!!!!! LOL! (I have so many of their books and guided-yoga cds, and was fortunate enough to go to their NewYork Yoga Centers many times (check them out at www.jivamuktiyoga.com and they even have a center in Toronto! www.jivamuktiyoga.ca )
I hope all of you Beauties have an awesome week and enjoy the turning-of-the-leaves as much as I do! Fuckin September RULES! But, as ever, you RULE HARDER! Sending you positivelove from my heart, and a healthy dose of Om Nama Shivaya. See you on the yoga mat!
Love and bliss,
Biffy

Now You See It, Now You Don’t…

Namaste, Sussreekall, Bonjourno, and Salut to everyone who may or may not be labouring (or IN labour) on LabourDayLongWeekend. Om Nama Shivaya and Hare Krishna, yo! I seem to remember something about “white pants” being passe apres “Labour Day”, but given the current state of ecclectic Fashion, I think its probably cool. I love white teeshirts beyond anything!!! (Cept when the armpits go “gray” and then you have to cut off the sleeves!)
One thing that ALWAYS seems to be in fashion, is ILLUSION.
Fuck us all, we are misled beyond our comprehension. Just sayin. LOL!
(Sorry bout the cussin, Mom, but I feel like peppering my thoughts on this with some gooders!)
I am a chick. A broad. A grrl. A woman. A dogmom. A wifey. A lover of art, music,books, literature, and fashion.
Its true.
Jeff Koons , Breadman (my tattoo artist), and Jaleh Jam are my favorite artists. Actually, I have more, but for today (and this blog) I will name topshelves, ya feel me?
Juergen Teller , Alex Waterhouse-Hayward, Nina Gouveia, and my five-year old Goddaughter, are my favorite photographers.I have SO MANY FAVORITE BANDS/MUSICIANS I CAN’T EVEN BEGIN…but I will have to say, Krishna Das is top (okay..and Otep….okay and HankWilliams3…okay and Missy Elliot…okay and Jai uttal..etc.etc.)
Books? You KNOW I am addicted to books but my favorites are ALL OF THEM! LOL!
(Okayokay…this week I have to say it is, once again, Anais Nin)
Fashion, however, is always changing.
Fashion is art, for sure. Subjective.
Is it inspiring? Yup. Is it oft-stupidity. Yup.
But it can be easy to enjoy it.
I stick with basics: things that work for MY BODY(which has changed many times over the years…..due to stress+travel, due to falling in+out of various loves….due to so many things…)
It makes me really THINK: I included the video on airbrushingphotos (see above) because I am guessing there may be some girls/grrrrrls/teens/impressionable babes who may honor me with reading my humble, cockamamey bloggy….and I want to make sure you know that EVERYTHING ABOUT OUR CULTURE’S STANDARD OF BEAUTY IS ALL AN ILLUSION!!!!!!! Okay? Seriously. FASHION IS AN ART MEDIUM (sketch+cloth, non?)
It is an “artform”We CAN NOT EVEREVER look like, say, Kate Moss..(lovelovelovegushlove!).
Ever. Pourquoi? Because, 1. We are NOT Kate. She is Kate. Kate is a professional “fashion model”. That is not our job. Its her job.
And, because, 2. Most of the images we see have been retouched. Which is, in itself, an artform.
How can we compete??? How can we compare ourselves to that? We can’t!
But we do! Sillysillysilly.
I am guilty of this heinous shallowness also, worrying about girlie things like “appearance”. (Why can’t I just be totally unattached and just be more centered and less “self”centered??? Sheesh!)
I should be GRATEFUL for my eyesight, my hearing, my mind, and my healthybody.
But I often forget these things…being ungrateful and lamenting and admonishing myself if I am not “at fightin’ weight” ya feel me? We all do it.
We all shouldn’t.
Whytheflyingfuck should we be so consumed with how we appear/present ourselves? *shrugs* I dunno. But-it just is. Let’s be smart. Let’s keep it all in perspective. Let’s keep it healthy. Let’s not try to conform. Let’s be ourselves.
I know I am on a “book fast” still…..
But ESTHER KANE was kind enough to send me her book, “It’s Not About the Food” and she is BRILLIANT!!!!!!! She hits the nail on the head! Her book resonates with me on a million different levels, and I am very grateful for it!!! Please look into her book (she is from BC!! Yay!) Her website is: www.estherkane.com and she has a free e-zine and other books for us to check out. She is a mentor and an inspiration. Om Hare Om.
I am wishing everyone a beautiful experience over this long weekend. Please take a second to wrap your arms around yourself and squeeeeeeeeeze!!!!! You are beautiful and that’s a FACT! I sendi you positivelovenergy and Highest Blessings. Let’s all enjoy our uniqueness, our differences, and our WHITE PANTS (LOL!). Bliss to you..
Peace+love,
Biffy
