Canadian Athlete of the Year! All hail Georges St-Pierre!
Namaste, Salaam, et Bonjour from the Rainforest! Happy Febuary to all you beautiful people. I am rather astounded and filled with wonder over Saturday’s fight. Ahhh…yes: non-violence is the key, to be sure, to life. Yet, as you know, my lifelong study of martial arts and the focus and meditative concentration required for the sport continues to inspire me. And, as I know you find with your own, personal life-journey, inspiration is found everywhere. Music inspires us, as hearing, sensory-stimulated mammals. People inspire us, too. And I am always inspired by athletes. Georges St-Pierre is up there, for me, like Fedor Emelianeko (with whom I filmed in both Costa Rica and Russia), and Denis Kang (whom I know from my hometown of Vancouver).
The dedication, focus, and hard work that is required to be at the top of their game- both, as athletes and in life, is beyond most people’s comprehension.
And though “fighting” is in direct contradiction of “ahimsa” (Sanskrit for non-violence..)
So, thus, I am ever torn…Ahimsa bars the injuring of living beings.
And a lot of injury is inflicted and sustained, deliberately, in martial arts.
But- it is SPORT, non? Is that wrong?
Georges St-Pierre (www.gspfightclub.com) is a true champion, both in and out of the ring. He is always sportsmanlike, and extremely polite. He gives 100% to his life.
As we all do- whatever our path.
I am in studio, today, giving 100% focus and passion to my life. Nicklas is giving 100% to his begging-for-more-sweet-potato pieces. And, wishing you the highest blessings and positivity, may you give and experience 100% to your path and its inspirations that drive your passion.
Om Nama Shivaya.
Om hare om.
Et a Georges…les felicitations! Vous etes un vrai champion! :)
Love, Biffy

I missed that fight. Like you, I don’t watch TV. I own one, but have no cable, or anything like that.
Saturday night is ALWAYS my gym night, and I don’t miss it for anything. I caught part of the hockey game at the gym while doing my warm-up, and that’s all the TV I got for the week :P
It’s too bad I missed the fight, I wanted to see it. To be honest, I didn’t feel like sitting in a crowded bar full of rowdy guys so the gym was the perfect place for me. ^^
I’ve seen Georges St-Pierre fight before. He is amazing!

Non-violence is the way to go! You don’t want to be defenseless though either. I believe balance is key! Great to hear about the new stuff!

He does sound like a true athlete! It really takes a strong mental constitution to get into such shape!

It’s wonderful that we have people like him showing the world what Canadians are really about, no doubt.

heya Bif,
Animals, who are pure and innocent, often fight and display in violet ways. While wars are unnessicary, small scale fighting is natural and turning it into a sport rather than a bloodbath is surely more positive.
It has been the worst snow in the UK for 18years and the whole country has stopped! We wouldnt last 2 days in canada! lol, anyway it made me think of you as we played in the snow,
Have fun being 100% Biffy,
T

Hey Bif, I think that the violence in sport is okay, because both people are consenting to the fact they might sustain an injury. It’s not the same as the violence that (unfortunately) goes on in everyday life. So I think you should not feel so torn! These people are atheletes! And should be admired!
Have fun in the studio! I am always endevouring to be IN the here and now, enjoy it!

I think it’s part of the reason why some people flock to Pro Wrestling to get their fix of action then contact sports that are more into seriously damaging someone into a KO or into submission. But standing as a Wrestling fan of the good ole WWE it still has it’s down side big time. But yes YARR for SPORTS!
Have a Fab February! I’m Twenty Three on Thursday! Send me birthday blessings of the positive kind? And I’ll save ya some cake. haha!
Mucho Amore!

Aww, well I was hoping Eric Lamaze would win the award :p
I can’t help it; I’m a fellow horse rider. I used to compete against Eric when we were kids but then he started jumping bigger jumps than me ;).
Oh well, it’s a tough race and I’m sure Georges deserves it too.
Stay well :). xox

Hey I was trying to save your blog into my feeder, but the RSS tab is messed up. When I click on it, it opens up an “error” page. . . . Hopefully you can get this fixed. By the way, YOU ROCK!
